Obtain Business/Tax Licenses

Tax rates may be a combination of state, county and city rates. There may also be special taxing districts. Some areas are taxed only by the state, others only locally, it depends on where your vacation home is located. |

Definition of a Short-Term Rental
Vacation rental taxes fall under statutes that define short-term rentals (usually defined as transient). The definition of short term rentals is anywhere from 30 days to six months |

- Tax payments and fees are electronically debited from your bank account

- Remember to file monthly and/or quarterly tax returns
- If you forget or file late, tax jurisdictions levy minimum $25 to $50 penalties
- Complete the forms, or download forms from the internet or call the tax authorities if you did not receive your tax forms
- Mail tax returns and payment to the tax authorities typically by the 15th, 20th or 31st of each period
